Library Catalogue
Search tips
- Use truncation symbols to find variant word endings.
Use the symbol * in The Catalogue and ? in Voyager.
Example: Search for stigma* to find stigma, stigmas, stigmatised, etc.
- Search for variant spellings: victimisation OR victimization
- Search for synonyms and related terms: domestic OR family
- Search for phrases in quotation marks: "domestic violence"
Examples:
"domestic violence" OR "family violence"
stigma* AND victim*
stigma* and (victim* or crim*)
Subject Headings
Subject headings in the catalogue do not always use the same terminology that we ordinarily use, eg the term "acquaintance rape" is used instead of "date rape", and you may need to look for related terms eg "animal welfare" instead of "animal abuse".
