Information Literacy

This course seeks to enhance the information literacy of students. According to the University of Auckland information literacy policy, information literacy is the set of intellectual capabilities, knowledge, and skills needed to use information and the ability to continue to develop these skills into the future. Through essay research, reading, and writing in History 255, students will find, critically evaluate, and manage information. Through engagement with the concept of history, lectures, tutorials and readings relating to nineteenth-century Maori economic history, students in History 255 will apply prior and new information to create new understandings about the past.
