Database SearchesTop of page
For help with database searching, please contact the Subject Librarian

The following databases will provide references to material on all authors and topics covered in this course. You must be logged on with NetID and Password to access these databases.

Literature Online - to find all material on an author, type their name into the QUICK SEARCH box and click GO. This search retrieves biographical information, any primary texts, secondary material, and reference information, depending on the status of the author and the amount of material available.
To search only for secondary material [criticism], click on the Criticism and Reference link, and then choose Criticism from the next screen.
Now click either the ABELL+FT or the MLAIB link.

Alternatively, you can connect to either database directly from the Databases & Article Searching page on the Library web page:

ABELL+FT - your search results will include some full text articles. Where full text is not provided, use the symbol to search Voyager. Links from the Voyager record often give access to full text, and also details of print holdings.

MLA International Bibliography - your search results will include some full text articles. Where full text is not provided, use the symbol to search Voyager. Links from the Voyager record often give access to full text, and also details of print holdings. This database also links directly to articles in JSTOR and Project Muse.

NB: Use the only for journals. To locate books in Voyager, cut and past the title of the book from the database record and put it into a Title search in Voyager.
