To find items in the Short Loan Collection, click the Readings tab in Library Search. On the next screen click on the pull down arrow next to the Course search box, and highlight the course name, ENGLISH 230. Click Search.

Search Tip: You can also use the Articles & More link in Library Search. To ensure the articles meet academic requirements, click Peer-Reviewed Journals in the left hand panel of the results screen. You can continue to refine the search further using this panel, e.g. by date, format, online, from the options provided.

These databases are fairly "subject-specific" with an academic focus.

MLA International Bibliography - the major resource for research in English language and literature. It indexes articles in scholarly journals and chapters in books, and covers film, television, popular culture and music, cultural studies in addition to literary topics. 

Film Index International Online - click on FilmSearch, and check the film title using the "select from list" link. As well as information about the film and its personnel, the search results page gives references to articles in serials. Scroll to the end of the page to see this list. All references must be checked on Voyager to see if the Library holds the serial.

Sage Full Text Collections - a collection of full text journals that can be searched like a database. Use the Communication Studies collection by clicking on the link under the Coverage heading from the Connect page.

The databases below are multidisciplinary and index a mix of both scholarly and more popular journals. They will deal with the topics on this course in a broader context, especially with regard to popular culture.
