Voyager Searches

The following searches are Subject Heading searches.

Since students are not expected to read much criticism for this course, but rely on their own encounters with the novels, the search strategies suggested below are deliberately general and retrieve books that deal with reading and analysis:
style literary
fiction technique
books and reading
fiction 20th century history and criticism
english fiction history and criticism
english fiction 20th century history and criticism
american fiction 20th century history and criticism
holocaust jewish 1939-1945 in literature

Click on the button shown to the left of your search results. The next page shows a list of narrower or alternative terms to search.

Authors' names can be used as a Subject Heading to find books about them and their work:

delillo don
forster e m
kafka franz
joyce james
garcía márquez gabriel
rhys jean
wiesel elie
woolf virginia

Choose the subdivision 'criticism and interpretation' or any other relevant heading. Sometimes the title of a specific work is a heading.

For authors where few books of criticism and interpretation are shown, use a database to find chapters in books and journal articles, or use the author's name enclosed by " " in a Keyword Relevance search in Voyager.
