Typically each author/topic is covered by an extended essay covering background, criticism, commentary, and a list of further reading. Photographs are usually included. Each article can be re-formatted for reading, and e-mailed/printed/downloaded.

Search Tip: You can also use the Articles & More link in Library Search. To ensure the articles meet academic requirements, click Peer-Reviewed Journals in the left hand panel of the results screen.

Film Index International Online - provides references to criticism and reviews. Use the symbol to check whether we hold the journals in which the references appear.

Film Literature Index - covers the period 1976-2001 for film, television and video.

Literary Encyclopedia - brief essays on well known works.

Literature Resource Center - search by Name of Work or Person. Use the blue tabs to see results on other aspects of the writer or their work. Articles are full text.

Literature Online - type an author's name in  the QUICK SEARCH to retrieve a summary of all the material available within the database. Results will include secondary material [journal articles, some of which will be full text, books, and book chapters], reference sources [full text], and web sites. Use to find the articles.

Index New Zealand - INNZ - indexes the contents of New Zealand publications.

New Zealand Literature File - all references from this File must be checked in Voyager, to see if we hold the newspaper or journal in which the reference appears. 

  • For newspapers and journals, go to Voyager and make a SERIAL TITLE search using the title of the journal or newspaper, and check the Library Has: information for whether we have the specified volume. 
    Go to the Location and Call Number given in the catalogue record. 
    Newspapers and some journals may be available in full text, with a link provided from the Voyager record.
