Referencing Style for Commercial Law Students

Use APA for referencing all sources of information except case law and legislation.

Use NZLSG (New Zealand Law Style Guide) for referencing case law and legislation only.

 

Legislation 

New Zealand

New Zealand legislation is available full text in Brookers Online  (helpsheet) and LexisNexis NZ (helpsheet) and IntelliConnect (CCH) (helpsheet). Free access to New Zealand legislation is available full text in New Zealand Legislation. Access to recent bills and Hansard is available on the New Zealand Parliament web site.

Linxplus and Briefcase Databases

  • Linxplus ( in LexisNexis NZ) and Briefcase (in Brookers Online) provide summaries and full text reported and unreported judgments. Judgments on LinxPlus are taken from the Court of Appeal and High Court. 
    Judgments on Briefcase are taken from the District Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, Privy Council and other selected judicial bodies

Short Loan Material

Check the recommended readings chosen by your lecturer on Voyager under the Course Material Search tab. Click on the pull down arrow next to the Course search box and highlight the course name COMLAW 203.  Click Search. 

Recommended readings can also be found using the Readings & Exams tab in Library Search. Enter COMLAW 203 in the search box and click Search. Select the Course Material link under Refine My Results.
